Our Mission
The Story of Alberto Colzani and the Mountain Stream Fishing Italia Project
Alberto Colzani is a passionate angler who transformed a simple hobby into a project dedicated to those seeking unique experiences in Italy’s mountain streams and lakes. But how did this adventure begin? Alberto’s story is one of love for nature, determination, and personal growth, all of which are now reflected in Mountain Stream Fishing Italia, a key reference point for fishing and mountain enthusiasts.
THE BEGINNINGS
A Boy with a Fishing Rod
Alberto’s passion for fishing began at an early age. At just six years old, he spent his summers in Liguria with his maternal grandfather, Mario, fishing from the rocks. Those days were marked by hours spent by the sea, chatting with his grandfather and being mesmerized by the waves crashing against the shore. For Alberto, it wasn’t just about fishing—it was a moment of connection with his grandfather and nature.
as the years passed, his grandfather’s health no longer allowed him to accompany Alberto. At eleven, Alberto continued on his own. His days began at dawn, with his bike and fishing rods ready for a new adventure. After a quick stop at the bakery, he headed to the rocks, where he spent the entire day fishing. His grandmother lovingly cooked whatever he caught. This summer routine remained constant until he was thirteen.
A Break and a Return to the Mountains
As often happens, adolescence brought new interests, and for a time, Alberto drifted away from fishing. But in 2016, at fourteen, his paternal grandfather Diego invited him to explore a different kind of fishing: mountain stream fishing. In a small valley in Val Sassina, Val Varrone, Alberto tried trout fishing for the first time. That day was a revelation. It wasn’t just the fishing that captivated him, but the environment—the fresh air, the silence broken only by the rushing streams, and the feeling of being immersed in a wild, authentic setting.

founder message
“Fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about understanding the rhythm of the water, respecting the life it holds, and finding your place within it. Every moment spent in nature is a lesson in patience, humility, and connection.”

Discovering Spinning Fishing
At seventeen and a half, Alberto went through a period of personal reflection. Realizing how much time he spent playing PlayStation, he decided to sell the console to dedicate himself to something more meaningful. With the proceeds, he bought six fishing rods for black bass. However, he soon realized that type of fishing required a boat, which he didn’t have. A friend then suggested he try trout spinning in Val Sassina.
During one of his first outings, Alberto managed to catch five trout in just one morning. That moment marked the beginning of a new passion, leading him to explore every corner of Val Sassina. Every Sunday, he would wake up early, load his gear into the car, and venture into remote, sometimes dangerous places in search of the best fishing spots. This dedication allowed him to get to know the valley in all its nuances, becoming a true expert of the area.
The Birth of the Community
In 2016, Alberto joined several fishing groups on Facebook. However, a heated debate over the introduction of salmon trout into Italian rivers led to a clash with the community group owner. Deeply convinced of the importance of preserving native species and natural ecosystems, Alberto decided to create his own group: Mountain Stream Fishing Italia. The idea was to build a space for those who, like him, loved mountain fishing and respected the environment.
Over time, the group expanded, eventually reaching Instagram. During the 2020 lockdown, Alberto kept the community’s passion alive by organizing weekly contests—friendly competitions to award the most beautiful fish caught by members. His evening live streams, featuring prominent guests from the fishing world, attracted hundreds of people, further strengthening the community.
The Meeting with Tom and the Birth of the Project
A pivotal meeting occurred in 2017 when Alberto met Tom, the owner of the Lake Fishing Como website. Tom, the son of a hotel owner on Lake Como and a fishing guide, shared his experience with Alberto. The two developed a strong friendship, sealed by a fishing trip to Denmark.
In 2020, Tom asked Alberto to collaborate on his fishing tours, an experience that solidified Alberto’s skills in guiding and accompanying fishing trips. By 2024, the two decided to join forces, merging Mountain Stream Fishing Italia with Lake Fishing Como. This collaboration gave rise to a close-knit team, ready to offer unforgettable experiences in Italy’s waterways.
